It is that time of year again. Time for the dreaded resolution. I always dread January at the gym. Hoards of people appear out of nowhere to start their resolution to “get in shape”. Funny enough, by February, most of those people are nowhere to be seen.
My wish for you this holiday season, is that you resolve to have the courage to change. Change what is not working for you. No more autopilot. Change takes courage. And I am not talking about physical changes.
“How few there are who have courage enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.” -Benjamin Franklin
Most of us know what it is that we want out of life. Health, love, happiness… but the way we attain those goals are different for each one of us. Our biggest obstacle to attaining those goals are ourselves.
Take the time to reflect and look at what is, or isn’t, working in your life, and resolve to change it. Make your goals measurable and attainable. And write them down. Imagine yourself at this time, next year. What would make you most proud?
Resolve every day to move towards those goals. Remind yourself everyday why they are important to you.
Life is too short to go through it on autopilot. You are the only one that can make it happen. You are the only one that can sabotage it.
Wishing you all the best for 2012… health, love and happiness.
