The Transformation

I recently did a photo shoot at my gym. The results were incredible, surreal even. A lot of people have asked me how I did it. I will be totally honest and some may be disappointed with what I have to say. A lot of hard work, dedication and a no-fail mindset but I am now stronger and healthier then I have ever been in my life. I never thought I would go public with these but I want to show you what I mean by transformation. This picture was taken in January of 2011. My baby had just turned two. I was tired of being tired. I wanted to look good and feel good and I made it my priority to do so. I had been going to the gym but I was having trouble pushing myself to work hard. I can’t even believe I am showing you this. Damn… Here goes nothing.

January – I could do ZERO pullups.

Now, after two years of hard work and commitment to a healthy lifestyle I have changed, both inside and out. It is no longer about looking good, but about feeling good. Looking good is a great by-product though.

June 2013 – I can string together 10 kipping pullups (or 5 strict)… and that tire… weighs 500 lbs.

Those pictures only show the external transformation. The internal transformation is what made all the difference. The choice of BEING strong and healthy over LOOKING strong and healthy.

For the next few weeks and months I will be documenting the changes I made both inside and out to get to where I am today. It’s funny because when I called the blog “FitlikeMia” it was kind of a joke.  I looked good on the outside after my initial weight loss but I wasn’t truly healthy. I was trying to look a certain way, rather then feel a certain way. Now that my attitude has changed I am stronger, fitter and happier then I ever have been in my life. I continue to work on balance, but I am still learning.

If you believe, and are willing to make the commitment, you can do anything you set your mind to.
