The Time is Now

O.K. It’s time do that thing that you really want to do but don’t know where to start. I am on a journey for change and growth and I want to bring you along with me. I have read so many self-help books I could have a PhD, so I have decided to use my knowledge and put it to good use. Enough analysis. Time for action. My step one comes from doing the Rockstar Body program with nutritionist extraordinaire Summer Innanen.

Step 1: Schedule it.

If you don’t prioritize and make time for the thing that you want, you can and will let life and other priorities take over. Put it in your calender and make it a must do. If your goal is getting fitter, leaner or stronger schedule your workouts and stick to them. If its eating better, then schedule time for meal planning, groceries and cooking. If it’s education, building a business, working on a skill, knitting, basket weaving… whatever it is. Schedule it and stick to your plan.

Make it Realistic.

If you know that every night after 8pm you are dead tired and want to watch “Real Lives of Ugly people” then don’t schedule it then… Find a time that works, that is realistic and that doesn’t over extend you. You may have to give up something else but if this is something that you truly want then it will be worth it.

Start Slow.

Give yourself one time slot that works,or two or three and stick to them. You know your limits. Sometimes we go balls to the wall but then can’t sustain it. Make it realistic and acheivable.

Don’t ditch on yourself.

Don’t get distracted.

When I am trying to procrastinate I do two things. 1) I clean my house and 2) I write this blog (I am actually supposed to be writing a business proposal right now). Make time for those things during other times of the day and don’t use them as a distraction. You wouldn’t just not show up for a meeting with a client.  Don’t ditch on yourself.

Stay Accountable.

Don’t make excuses. Do it. Stick to it.

In our next step we will talk about mission statements and goal setting. First you need to set time aside for it. So when you are done reading open your date book or phone and set some time for “that thing that you want to do but keep on making excuses for”.

Do it.
